Course Description
This course equips health professionals with the essential knowledge and practical skills to perform, interpret and apply Ankle Brachial Pressure Index (ABI) and Toe Brachial Pressure Index (TBI) measurements with confidence.
Through practical guidance, clinical scenarios and interactive knowledge checks, participants learn how to identify peripheral arterial disease (PAD), troubleshoot common assessment challenges and incorporate ABI and TBI findings into comprehensive patient care. By the end of the course, participants will be better prepared to support safe clinical decision-making and promote improved vascular health outcomes for their patients.
Why ABI and TBI Assessment Matters
-
Supports early detection: Helps identify narrowed or blocked arteries in the legs before severe symptoms or tissue damage occur.
-
Indicates cardiovascular risk: A low ABI result can signal poor circulation and a higher risk of heart attack or stroke.
-
Guides treatment planning: Helps clinicians assess the extent of arterial disease and select appropriate interventions, such as exercise therapy, medical management or referral for surgical review.
-
Tracks progress over time: Repeat testing supports monitoring of treatment effectiveness and lifestyle-related improvements in blood flow.
